Assay Requests for the Robotics Facility

Researchers interested in utilizing facility resources for their assay should contact the S.M.A.R.T. Facility Manager. The Facility Manager will discuss the assay request with the user and advises researchers on the ability of the system to handle their request. The Manager will also develop estimates of time requirements and feasible batch sizes for all requests and acts as a resource person to facilitate transfer of bench top SOPs to the robotic platform.

Requests that conform to the facility guidelines will be further considered by the Robotics Facility Use Committee. The Committee functions to confirm the suitability of project requests and to establish project priorities and time lines for the Robotics Facility.

The Cost of Using the Facility

Scientists at the Samuel Lunenfeld Research Institute (SLRI) are leaders in the development of high throughput projects, The S.M.A.R.T. Robotics Facility incurs operating costs (repairs, capital replacements etc.) which are borne by users of the Facility. Academic researchers within the Institute are charged only for the purpose of recovering costs of operating the robotic system (contact the Manager for details). These funds also allow for equipment upgrade and continued improvements to the technology available at the Robotics Facility. The costs of consumables will be born by the individual users of the Facility. The Manager will advise users as to the supplies which they must provide for their work in the Facility.
